BB&M is pleased to announce the representation of Dahoon Nam, whose practice across sculpture, installation, and object-based works interrogates the construction of artistic value and authenticity. By reconfiguring iconic motifs from figures such as Alberto Giacometti, Alexander Calder, and Nam June Paik into provisional forms made of mundane, often humble materials, Nam complicates the distinction between originality and reproduction. This material and formal transformation unsettles established art-historical hierarchies, stripping canonical references of their timeless gravity to reveal the structures that produce and sustain artistic legitimacy. Ultimately, by framing the “masterpiece” as a transient reflection of cultural consumption, Nam’s work functions as a critical inquiry into the life of the image today, examining how we define the act of creation in a world of endless reproduction, mechanical and otherwise.
