Haevan Lee’s Buffer Zone (2021) and Goliaths (2018) are currently on view in The Chronicles of the City We Wrote, presented as part of Goyang Art Festival 2026 – Urban Synopsis, organized by the Goyang Cultural Foundation.
Buffer Zone, a panoramic painting installation spanning 9.5 meters, juxtaposes geometric markers of military control with birds moving freely across a seemingly untouched landscape, revealing tensions between imposed boundaries and the persistence of non-human life. Goliaths, featuring fragmented panels with suspended pendulums, evokes the histories of division and surveillance while reflecting on the passage of time. Together, the works transform the exhibition space into a metaphorical buffer zone.
