LEE BUL | Gothenburg Museum of Art, Sweden
March 11 – August 27, 2023

Opening on March 11 and on view through August 27, 2023, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Sweden, is mounting Lee Bul’s first solo museum exhibition in the Nordic countries. The exhibition brings together several of the artist’s signature, large-scale sculptural works, including a version of Willing to be Vulnerable, the silvery inflatable monument to utopian dreams and failures, and Aubade V, a steel-lattice tower made of metal salvaged from dismantled guard posts in the Korean DMZ, first shown in the Arsenale at the 2019 Venice Biennale. In the autumn of 2023, a modified, expanded version of the exhibition will be shown at Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere, Finland.

LEE BUL | Hangar Y, Meudon, France
March 21, 2023 – Ongoing

March also marks the opening of Hangar Y, Meudon, just outside Paris. An iconic site in the history of aeronautics, the former airship hangar and the surrounding park has been transformed into a public cultural complex. To inaugurate the project, Lee Bul was commissioned to create a 21-meter-long version of her inflatable sculpture Willing to be Vulnerable, which is now suspended in the vast space of the former hangar as a permanent, site-specific installation.
